Successor Housing Agency

On January 11, 2012, the City Council of the City of Madera elected to retain the housing assets and functions previously performed by the Madera Redevelopment Agency by resolutions MRA-1498 and CC 12-09. Unlike the Successor Agency to the former Madera Redevelopment Agency, the Successor Housing Agency will act in its own capacity relative to the former housing functions of the Madera Redevelopment Agency and will meet on an as-needed basis.

Upon dissolution of redevelopment agencies February 1, 2012, the City of Madera elected to retain the housing assets and affordable housing functions of the former Redevelopment Agency as the Successor Housing Agency, now subject to the affordable housing related provisions of California Redevelopment Law (CRL). Senate Bill 341, which was approved by the Governor October 13, 2013 and went into effect January 1, 2014, amended provisions of the CRL relating to the functions to be performed by the housing successor and required new annual reporting on affordable housing financial activity, containing information regarding the Low-Moderate Income Housing Asset Fund of the former redevelopment agency.
