Police Programs

The purpose of the Madera Police Crime Prevention Program is to educate the community on how to prevent crimes from occurring in the first place. It is also designed so that the community can interact with the police department in a positive way.  Officers are assigned to a specific beat and can answer your specific questions and help address concerns.

Getting involved with the community and knowing your neighbors is an effective way to help prevent crime. By getting involved with the community you know what is happening and know where and what crimes are occurring. Knowing your neighbors helps awareness of suspicious activity in your neighborhood. In addition, in case of a natural disaster it is helpful to know which of your neighbors may need assistance i.e., elderly, physically handicapped, non-English speaking, etc.

The Department has a variety of crime prevention programs for community members of all ages. These programs are FREE, and geared to helping all of us reduce crime and create are a more livable community.

Madera’s Crime prevention attends many activities throughout Madera. To list a few, Crime Prevention attends job fairs that are held by our local schools. We assist in the local Farmers market. Walk safe programs put on at Martin Luther King middle school.  Many of the ribbon cuttings of new businesses opening in Madera.  Annual events such as the parades, Jesse Owens Games, Fourth of July events, K-9 demonstrations (these are very popular with our elementary schools), in addition to many more.  If you have an event that you would like us to attend, contact the Madera Police Department at pdinfo@madera.gov.

Aside from our Crime Prevention Programs we also encourage the citizens of Madera to take a tour of our facility, go on a ride-along with one of our outstanding officers, or volunteer at the police station.

If you come by the station, we have plenty of free information for you.  Our lobby has a pamphlet display with many areas of interest to help you prevent crime.  This information can be found inside Madera Police Department’s lobby or viewed online by clicking Residential Crime Prevention Tips. If you find yourself at Madera Police Department, we urge you to pick up literature on just about any crime prevention topic that you are looking for, including:

  • Personal Safety
  • Identity Theft
  • Citizen Comment Forms
  • Home Security
  • Drug/Alcohol Abuse
  • And many more
